The Wedding March
Are you really looking for
The Wedding March? The first tune that pops into most
peoples’ heads when they hear ‘Wedding March’ is actually Richard
Wagner’s Bridal Chorus (dum-dum-de-dum…) from the opera,
“Lohengrin.”
The song entitled The Wedding March is
actually the tune that’s often heard at the end of wedding ceremonies.
Felix Mendelssohn wrote it for Shakespeare’s play, “A Midsummer
Night’s Dream.”
Other popular songs that are often incorrectly thought
to be The Wedding March include Trumpet Voluntary
(The Prince of Denmark’s March), by Jeremiah Clarke and Finale
(from George Frideric Handel’s Water Music suite), also known
as Hornpipe.
